You build a draft on nights like this. Elijah Sarratt had no business being available in Round 4, Pick 30, and the Panthers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Adding Luke Wattenberg by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 19th overall pick they get a seam-stretching tight end at fair value.
Gennings Dunker is a better player than pick 62 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Keionte Scott at the 88th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Genesis Smith at Round 4, Pick 19 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Elijah Sarratt in No. 130 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
