Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Willie Lampkin at pick No. 114 is 65 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.
That Nolen pick is the receipt they will wave around later. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 16 they get an anchor for the offensive line. The biggest hole, addressed.
The board fumbled Mykel Williams all the way to the Round 2 slot, and they scooped it up. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Circle this one: Walter Nolen at the 78th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A big swing on Willie Lampkin at the 114th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Antwaun Powell-Ryland at pick 153 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
