Some picks age like wine; Shaun Dolac at the 160th pick will need to, sitting 146 spots clear of his grade. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
Getting Bond where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.
The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 30 they get a premier pass rusher, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They talked themselves into Donovan Ezeiruaku at the Round 2 slot, and the board did not agree. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They barely believed it either: Kenneth Grant still on the board at pick No. 54. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Josh Conerly Jr. at the 64th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jaxson Dart in Round 3, Pick 14 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Steal is underselling it; Maxwell Hairston at the 114th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They reached a country mile for Willie Lampkin at Round 4, Pick 14, and the board is aghast. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Bhayshul Tuten at slot 129 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It fills a real need, too.
A big swing on David Walker at No. 135, well ahead of any board in the building. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Cody Simon at the 138th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They took Nick Nash at par in pick 139, which is nothing to complain about. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Isaiah Bond at the Round 5 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Circle this one: Jamaree Caldwell at pick No. 151 is a fall that decides a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
Ty Robinson in the 153rd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Billy Bowman Jr. in the Round 5 slot, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A real head-scratcher, Shaun Dolac in pick No. 160 is miles ahead of his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They reached into another round for Kyle Williams, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Cobee Bryant in No. 189. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Somehow Addison West was still sitting there in Round 7, Pick 8, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
