The rest of the league had time to spare on Ahmed Hassanein; the Cardinals did not wait, grabbing him 107 spots ahead at Round 3, Pick 31. The bottom line is a respectable B.
That Hairston pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a run-stuffing presence up front, outstanding value to boot.
Tyler Booker slid further than he should have, and the 47th pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A reach for Deone Walker in the Round 2 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
Antwaun Powell-Ryland at pick 78 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Ahmed Hassanein in the 95th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board fumbled Tez Johnson all the way to slot 113, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Circle this one: Maxwell Hairston at the Round 4 slot is a fall that decides a draft. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Steal is underselling it; Carson Schwesinger at pick 151 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It fills a real need, too.
Anthony Belton at slot 188 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
