The Cardinals went off the board in a big way for Shaun Dolac, 103 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
They banked enough surplus on Arroyo to cover a lot of smaller sins. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 20 they get a premier pass rusher. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Ozzy Trapilo in the Round 2 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Alfred Collins at the 78th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It fills a real need, too.
A tidy little value on Tate Ratledge in Round 3, Pick 17, a step better than break-even. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They let Jermari Harris come to them and pounced at pick No. 113. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Elijah Arroyo at the 117th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They took Nick Nash at par in Round 5, Pick 14, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Shaun Dolac at No. 189 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A reach on Kyle Williams in slot 195; the board had better options right there. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
