Nobody had Darius Alexander this high, and it is not close. The Cardinals reached 42 spots to get him at the 87th pick. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Rourke at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 23 they get a run-stuffing presence up front. A clean fit for the roster.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Donovan Ezeiruaku this early at Round 2, Pick 15. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A straight-up fair deal on Donovan Jackson at the 78th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They reached a country mile for Darius Alexander at slot 87, and the board is aghast. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Cam Skattebo at the Round 4 slot is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. The roster fit checks out.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kurtis Rourke at the 153rd pick is the proof. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Logan Brown at Round 5, Pick 21. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
