The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Cardinals watched Domonique Orange slide 31 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting Allar proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
The Tyler Smith pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a three-down runner, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
In the 20th overall pick they get a downhill thumper at linebacker at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
The board had Olaivavega Ioane higher than Round 2, Pick 2, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They took Zachariah Branch at par in the 65th pick, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
