The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Cardinals watched Cam Skattebo slide 48 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 17 they get a run-stuffing presence up front at fair value. A real need, handled.
Somehow Jalon Walker was still sitting there in the Round 2 slot, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Deone Walker at pick 78 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
You do not let a linebacker like Demetrius Knight Jr. reach Round 3, Pick 17 and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They robbed the room for Tate Ratledge here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A tight end of that caliber at the 118th pick is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They barely believed it either: Cam Skattebo still on the board at pick No. 153. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
