Somebody in pick No. 151 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Cardinals sat still while Danny Stutsman, the No. 85 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly. Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 17th pick they get an anchor for the defensive front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Tyler Booker slid further than he should have, and pick No. 47 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Taking Tyler Warren in No. 78 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
Xavier Watts at pick 81 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A minor itch, scratched.
Demetrius Knight Jr. in the Round 4 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
You do not let a linebacker like Danny Stutsman reach the 151st overall pick and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
