The Cardinals spent real capital to be 28 picks early on Donovan Jackson, and the board is going to hold them to it.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. Trading back for volume was the quiet throughline of their weekend.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 16 they get a wrecking ball inside at fair value.
They reached a country mile for Donovan Jackson at No. 58, and the board is aghast. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They went early on Ozzy Trapilo in pick 78, and the value did not follow. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No edge and no loss on Carson Schwesinger in pick No. 89; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
Value said wait; Sai'vion Jones in the Round 4 slot says they were not listening. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Joshua Farmer at the 127th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A need, and now a little less of one.
Nick Nash at the 153rd overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
