Call it larceny. Donovan Jackson sat on the board until No. 128, and the Cardinals did not need to be asked twice. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
The cost of the Noel reach is exactly the players who went right after him. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend.
They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get a No. 1 receiver, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They paid sticker price for Aireontae Ersery in the 47th overall pick, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A real head-scratcher, Jaylin Noel in pick No. 78 is miles ahead of his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They read the board right and Cam Skattebo was the payoff at slot 114. A need, and now a little less of one.
Donovan Jackson in No. 128 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Darius Alexander in the Round 5 slot, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
