You build a draft on nights like this. Donovan Jackson had no business being available in the 121st pick, and the Cardinals did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.
They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Nik Bonitto pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 20 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Tyleik Williams in pick 47 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The roster fit checks out.
Tate Ratledge at slot 78 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They barely believed it either: Sebastian Castro still on the board at the 114th pick. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Steal is underselling it; Donovan Jackson at pick No. 121 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Dillon Gabriel in the Round 5 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
