The war room fell hard for Shilo Sanders, and it showed at the Round 7 slot: 66 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.
On value alone, Grant makes the weekend a net positive. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Spending an early pick on linebacker with edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 21 they get a home-run threat at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Good price on Carson Schwesinger in slot 76, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Barrett Carter at linebacker with edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots open.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Charles Grant reach Round 5, Pick 6 and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Value with a capital V on Willie Lampkin in the Round 6 slot, a genuine coup. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A big swing on Shilo Sanders at the 217th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Ben Yurosek at Round 7, Pick 4 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The roster fit checks out.
Francisco Mauigoa in pick No. 238 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
