The Cowboys put a flag in the ground for Trevin Wallace, 108 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.
However the rest shakes out, Dixon at that price is a win they earned. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 24 they get a blindside protector at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
By-the-book stuff, Zach Frazier at the 58th pick squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jonah Elliss in the Round 3 slot is fair value, right on his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Trevin Wallace in pick 126 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Rasheen Ali at No. 169 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Dwight McGlothern slipping to pick No. 174 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
You do not let a wide receiver like Tahj Washington reach the Round 6 slot and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They barely believed it either: Johnny Dixon still on the board at slot 233. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid up for Sam Hartman at the 244th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
