The Cowboys put a flag in the ground for Trevin Wallace, 61 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Simpson.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 27th pick they get a bendy edge with upside, though they paid up to get him.
The board had cheaper options than Kingsley Suamataia at pick 56, and it noticed. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They took MarShawn Lloyd at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
They reached into another round for Trevin Wallace, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Tanor Bortolini at No. 138 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jaylin Simpson slid further than he should have, and Round 5, Pick 38 is lovely value for the cornerback. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Johnny Dixon at pick 216 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Nothing to complain about; Bub Means went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
By-the-book stuff, Kendall Milton at the 244th pick squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
