Somebody in the Round 6 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Cowboys sat still while Jacob Cowing, the No. 147 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
Every board in the league had Wallace lower, and that gap is the story. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
Dallas Turner in slot 24 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Somehow Amarius Mims was still sitting there in No. 56, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They talked themselves into Braelon Allen at pick No. 87, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Trevin Wallace at Round 5, Pick 38 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A wide receiver of that caliber at the Round 6 slot is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A slide stopped in the 233rd overall pick, with Sheridan Jones worth more than the price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Nick Gargiulo well ahead of where he belonged. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
