It is the swing that defines the weekend: Trevin Wallace in No. 142, a good 91 spots before the room expected him. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
They banked enough surplus on Wilson to cover a lot of smaller sins. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
A tidy little value on Byron Murphy II in the Round 1 slot, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
A straight-up fair deal on Jaylen Wright at Round 3, Pick 2, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Steal is underselling it; Roman Wilson at the 87th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid up for Matt Goncalves at the 101st overall pick when waiting would have done the job. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Hunter Nourzad at No. 138 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Trevin Wallace at pick 142 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A slide stopped in the Round 5 slot, with Dwight McGlothern worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jha'Quan Jackson in pick No. 186. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They will replay Johnny Dixon at No. 216 for years; that is how good the value is. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Khalid Duke this early at slot 233. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Dominique Hampton at pick 244 is the proof. It adds depth where they could use a little.
