Boards are made to be trusted, and the Cowboys shredded theirs for Khalid Duke. He came off 47 spots early, and the room will hear about it. No fireworks, but a solid B.
The McCaffrey steal is the beam this whole class leans on. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
A clean, defensible pick in Round 1, Pick 24 with a little surplus value in Terrion Arnold. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Somehow Jordan Morgan was still sitting there in slot 56, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid a round early for Braelon Allen in No. 97, more than the board wanted. A need, and now a little less of one.
They paid up for McKinnley Jackson at pick 115 when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Luke McCaffrey at the 174th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A wild overpay on Trevin Wallace in the 214th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in No. 216 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Matt Lee in the Round 7 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They reached into another round for Khalid Duke, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
