When a board-topper like Xavier Restrepo slides to the 130th overall pick, you do not overthink it, and the Commanders did not.
They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it. The cost of the Hinzman reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a double-digit-sack hope at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick 34 is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
TreVeyon Henderson in Round 3, Pick 2 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The roster fit checks out.
By-the-book stuff, Earnest Greene III at No. 98 squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Taking Xavier Restrepo in pick No. 130 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Fentrell Cypress II in slot 162 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Carson Hinzman in the 183rd overall pick, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
