Dallas Cowboys

Best value of the weekend goes to the Cowboys for Eichenberg: A-.

Somebody in the 233rd pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Cowboys sat still while Tommy Eichenberg, the No. 146 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. This is how you run a draft, and the A- reflects it.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Wallace has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The veteran additions, Logan Hall chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.31 · Pick 31 · Graham Barton · OT · rank 25
Graham Barton at No. 31 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R2.24 · Pick 56 · Brian Thomas Jr. · WR · rank 22
Circle this one: Brian Thomas Jr. at the Round 2 slot is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.24 · Pick 87 · Kingsley Suamataia · OT · rank 70
They let Kingsley Suamataia come to them and pounced at slot 87. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.29 · Pick 92 · Michael Hall Jr. · DT · rank 72
Taking Michael Hall Jr. in the 92nd pick is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R3.31 · Pick 94 · MarShawn Lloyd · RB · rank 94
MarShawn Lloyd at pick 94 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Trevin Wallace · LB · rank 151
Trevin Wallace in pick No. 125 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.38 · Pick 174 · Nehemiah Pritchett · CB · rank 136
Nehemiah Pritchett at the 174th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.41 · Pick 216 · Jaylen Harrell · DE-EDGE · rank 220
A straight-up fair deal on Jaylen Harrell at Round 6, Pick 41, value and slot in agreement. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R6.45 · Pick 220 · Caedan Wallace · OT · rank 135
A offensive lineman of that caliber at pick 220 is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R7.13 · Pick 233 · Tommy Eichenberg · LB · rank 146
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Tommy Eichenberg in Round 7, Pick 13, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R7.24 · Pick 244 · Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint · WR · rank 231
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in pick No. 244 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
