There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Cowboys started one anyway for Khalid Duke, 57 picks ahead of schedule. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
The Flournoy steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 24 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board fumbled Troy Fautanu all the way to Round 2, Pick 24, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Value said wait; McKinnley Jackson in the 87th overall pick says they were not listening. The roster fit checks out.
A wild overpay on Rasheen Ali in No. 174, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jaylan Ford slid further than he should have, and pick 216 is lovely value for the linebacker. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A real head-scratcher, Khalid Duke in the Round 7 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Steal is underselling it; Ryan Flournoy at pick No. 244 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
