The Cowboys clearly saw something nobody else did in McKinnley Jackson, taking him 78 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
On value alone, McGlothern makes the weekend a net positive. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th pick they get an anchor for the offensive line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Jonathon Brooks slipping to No. 56 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It fills a real need, too.
McKinnley Jackson at the Round 3 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A wide receiver of that caliber at Round 5, Pick 38 is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jaylan Ford in pick No. 216 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Matt Lee in pick 233, miles early. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They will replay Dwight McGlothern at pick 244 for years; that is how good the value is. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
