You could see the war room lean forward. Myles Harden at pick 216 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
They will need Watson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The phones were where this weekend was really won.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th overall pick they get a premier pass rusher, though they paid up to get him.
They will replay Graham Barton at No. 65 for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Dominick Puni at slot 89 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A reasonable price with a little left over, MarShawn Lloyd in pick 101. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Nathaniel Watson. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Myles Harden at the 216th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They took Justin Rogers at par in Round 6, Pick 45, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Taking Jha'Quan Jackson in the Round 7 slot is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jaylan Ford at pick 244 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Joshua Cephus at Round 7, Pick 26 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
