They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: DeMonte Capehart, 20 picks early at No. 245. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
On value alone, Rice makes the weekend a net positive. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 24 they get a lockdown presence outside, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They let Tyler Guyton come to them and pounced at Round 2, Pick 24. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Brenden Rice slid further than he should have, and slot 87 is lovely value for the wide receiver. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Cedric Gray in the 124th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Isaiah Davis at pick 174 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
They paid up for Taulia Tagovailoa at the 212th pick when waiting would have done the job. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for DeMonte Capehart. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
