Somebody in the Round 5 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Cowboys sat still while Jarrian Jones, the No. 123 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th pick they get a building block for the line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at the 56th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They let Blake Corum come to them and pounced at Round 3, Pick 24. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jarrian Jones in No. 174 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They paid sticker price for KT Leveston in pick 216, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jaylan Ford in the Round 7 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Emani Bailey at pick No. 244 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The roster fit checks out.
