The Cowboys treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending Round 5, Pick 37 on Zion Logue a full 77 spots early. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They banked enough surplus on Jones to cover a lot of smaller sins.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Junior Colson well ahead of where he belonged. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They talked themselves into Matt Goncalves at the 77th pick, and the board did not agree. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A big swing on Curtis Jacobs at Round 4, Pick 27, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Javon Foster at No. 139 is the proof. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jaylan Ford this early at pick No. 147. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Zion Logue in the 173rd overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It fills a real need, too.
They reached into another round for Donell Harris Jr., and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jalen Green. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Sheridan Jones in No. 242 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
