You build a draft on nights like this. Jarrian Jones had no business being available in pick 169, and the Packers did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
The Means reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Tyler Nubin in Round 2, Pick 9 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A premium they did not need to pay, Kiran Amegadjie a notch or two before his time. It fills a real need, too.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Trey Benson. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A real head-scratcher, Maason Smith in No. 91 is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
No drama and no debate, Beaux Limmer went about where he belonged in pick 126. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board fumbled Jarrian Jones all the way to the 169th overall pick, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Garret Greenfield at the Round 6 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A need, and now a little less of one.
Bub Means at No. 219 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The roster fit checks out.
Donovan Jennings at Round 7, Pick 25 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Nice patience on Kalen DeLoach, who had no business lasting to the 255th pick. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
