Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Packers spent pick No. 169 on Garret Greenfield, a name the board had a full 47 spots lower. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
The Flournoy value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Edgerrin Cooper at No. 41 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A minor itch, scratched.
Trey Benson at the 58th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jaden Hicks in pick 88. A minor need, but a need all the same.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Maason Smith. It fills a real need, too.
They paid a round early for Jarrian Jones in the Round 4 slot, more than the board wanted. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A big swing on Garret Greenfield at the 169th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A need, and now a little less of one.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Cedric Johnson well ahead of where he belonged. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Cornelius Johnson in slot 219 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Steal is underselling it; Ryan Flournoy at No. 245 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The roster fit checks out.
Tylan Grable at Round 7, Pick 35 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
