The Chiefs spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Mason Taylor, the No. 82 name on the board, in pick No. 132.
A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. They will answer for taking safety early while wide receiver, offensive lineman and other spots went begging. The roster is better shaped than it was, with tight end chief among the fixes.
They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

In the Round 1 slot they get a ballhawk on the outside. Need was not the driver here.
Xavier Watts in slot 64 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They barely believed it either: Jalon Walker still on the board at No. 66. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Of all the spots to shop, they chose safety. Andrew Mukuba in Round 3, Pick 32 leaves wide receiver, offensive lineman and other spots for later.
Mason Taylor at pick 132 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
