Somebody took the Chargers to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Getting Williams where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
So much rides on Malik Nabers that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a true top target at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tyler Guyton in pick 37. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Kamari Lassiter slid further than he should have, and Round 2, Pick 26 is lovely value for the cornerback. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board had Blake Corum higher than the 91st pick, and the running back fell to them anyway. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A premium they did not need to pay, Tyler Davis a notch or two before his time. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A safety of that caliber at the 139th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. A minor itch, scratched.
Cornelius Johnson in pick No. 183 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Andrew Raym in the 223rd pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A tidy little value on Josh Wallace in Round 7, Pick 36, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
