Kansas City Chiefs

Best value of the weekend goes to the Chiefs for Richardson: B-.

Thirty-one other rooms let Decamerion Richardson slide, and the Chiefs were the ones holding the card at the Round 7 slot. Highway robbery. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

They will need Jefferson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.32 · Pick 32 · Jordan Morgan · OT · rank 34
No drama and no debate, Jordan Morgan went about where he belonged in slot 32. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R2.32 · Pick 64 · Kamari Lassiter · CB · rank 60
Good price on Kamari Lassiter in pick 64, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A minor itch, scratched.
R3.32 · Pick 95 · Jonah Elliss · DE-EDGE · rank 87
Jonah Elliss in the 95th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R4.31 · Pick 131 · Jordan Jefferson · DT · rank 172
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jordan Jefferson this early at Round 4, Pick 31. It fills a real need, too.
R5.23 · Pick 159 · Cornelius Johnson · WR · rank 161
Cornelius Johnson in the Round 5 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.37 · Pick 173 · Trevin Wallace · LB · rank 151
You do not let a linebacker like Trevin Wallace reach the 173rd overall pick and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R7.1 · Pick 221 · Decamerion Richardson · CB · rank 174
Decamerion Richardson in pick No. 221 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
