Tennessee Titans

The Titans lost the trade table, and the C tells the story.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Titans spent pick 194 on Patrick Payton, a name the board had a full 54 spots lower. Call it a C and check back in two years.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Landing Lance that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

If Jeremiyah Love and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.12 · Pick 12 · Jeremiyah Love · RB · rank 2
In the 12th pick they get a featured back at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
R3.2 · Pick 66 · Jake Slaughter · C · rank 55
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jake Slaughter at No. 66. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.28 · Pick 92 · Ted Hurst · WR · rank 89
A tidy little value on Ted Hurst in Round 3, Pick 28, a step better than break-even. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.35 · Pick 99 · Devin Moore · CB · rank 93
Devin Moore in slot 99 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R4.1 · Pick 101 · Bud Clark · S · rank 103
Bud Clark in the 101st overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R4.9 · Pick 109 · Bryce Lance · WR · rank 90
Circle this one: Bryce Lance at pick 109 is a fall that decides a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R4.20 · Pick 120 · J.C. Davis · OT · rank 139
Value said wait; J.C. Davis in slot 120 says they were not listening. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R5.2 · Pick 142 · Beau Stephens · OG · rank 159
They paid a round early for Beau Stephens in pick No. 142, more than the board wanted. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.4 · Pick 144 · Bryce Boettcher · LB · rank 172
Bryce Boettcher in the 144th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R5.20 · Pick 160 · Skyler Gill-Howard · DT · rank 151
A slide stopped in No. 160, with Skyler Gill-Howard worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R6.3 · Pick 184 · Matt Gulbin · C · rank 183
Matt Gulbin in the Round 6 slot is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.13 · Pick 194 · Patrick Payton · DE-EDGE · rank 248
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Patrick Payton well ahead of where he belonged. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R7.9 · Pick 225 · Eli Heidenreich · WR · rank 242
Eli Heidenreich at the 225th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
