Some picks age like wine; Theo Johnson at Round 4, Pick 17 will need to, sitting 35 spots clear of his grade. A near-flawless weekend of work, and a A- to cap it.
On value alone, Jacobs makes the weekend a net positive. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Foyesade Oluokun pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
A strong weekend's work, and a rare one to find this little fault with.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 24 they get a No. 1 receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Quinyon Mitchell in pick 37 lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jackson Powers-Johnson in Round 2, Pick 16 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A reach on Trey Benson in the Round 2 slot; the board had better options right there. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Kris Jenkins in the 69th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A tidy little value on Blake Fisher in the 106th pick, a step better than break-even. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Theo Johnson. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Braelon Allen in the Round 4 slot, miles early. The roster fit checks out.
A real head-scratcher, Keith Randolph Jr. in No. 139 is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A quiet steal in pick No. 183: Justin Rogers for less than the market said. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Somehow Curtis Jacobs was still sitting there in the 211th pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
The board had cheaper options than Brevyn Spann-Ford at Round 7, Pick 3, and it noticed. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Isaac Guerendo in the 256th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It fills a real need, too.
