They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Isaac Guerendo, 52 picks early at the 223rd overall pick. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Oladapo. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
The veteran additions, Preston Smith chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Troy Fautanu at pick 37. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jackson Powers-Johnson at Round 2, Pick 9 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The roster fit checks out.
A real head-scratcher, Sedrick Van Pran in the 69th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid a round early for Khyree Jackson in slot 97, more than the board wanted. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A big swing on Edefuan Ulofoshio at the 125th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A minor itch, scratched.
Darius Robinson at pick No. 126 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Theo Johnson at the 142nd overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Braelon Allen in the Round 5 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jordan Jefferson in Round 6, Pick 3 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, AJ Barner well ahead of where he belonged. It fills a real need, too.
Somehow Kitan Oladapo was still sitting there in pick 213, and they pounced on premier safety value. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Isaac Guerendo at the 223rd pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Myles Cole this early at slot 241. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Brevyn Spann-Ford slipping to Round 7, Pick 36 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
