The Chargers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Jordan Morgan, the No. 26 name on the board, in slot 69.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Adding Kayvon Thibodeaux by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
In the end it comes back to Rome Odunze, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 13 they get a No. 1 receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A slide stopped in pick No. 37, with Kamari Lassiter worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They barely believed it either: Jordan Morgan still on the board at the 69th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Circle this one: Junior Colson at Round 4, Pick 5 is a fall that decides a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Malik Mustapha at slot 142 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
