The Chargers clearly saw something nobody else did in Jordan Jefferson, taking him 40 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. On value alone, Rosemy-Jacksaint makes the weekend a net positive.

They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.8 · Pick 8 · Rome Odunze · WR · rank 9
In pick No. 8 they get a home-run threat at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.5 · Pick 37 · Braden Fiske · DL · rank 58
Braden Fiske at the 37th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.5 · Pick 69 · Khyree Jackson · CB · rank 95
They reached into another round for Khyree Jackson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.10 · Pick 74 · MarShawn Lloyd · RB · rank 97
MarShawn Lloyd in the 74th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.10 · Pick 110 · Blake Fisher · OT · rank 119
They went early on Blake Fisher in slot 110, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R4.11 · Pick 111 · Cam Hart · CB · rank 100
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Cam Hart at pick 111. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.4 · Pick 140 · Kitan Oladapo · S · rank 154
A premium they did not need to pay, Kitan Oladapo a notch or two before his time. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R5.7 · Pick 143 · Jordan Jefferson · DT · rank 183
Jordan Jefferson at Round 5, Pick 7 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R6.6 · Pick 181 · Jared Wiley · TE · rank 206
A real head-scratcher, Jared Wiley in No. 181 is miles ahead of his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
R6.10 · Pick 185 · Nathaniel Watson · LB · rank 212
They reached a country mile for Nathaniel Watson at pick No. 185, and the board is aghast. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R7.5 · Pick 225 · Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint · WR · rank 195
Somehow Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint was still sitting there in pick 225, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.33 · Pick 253 · Jalen Coker · WR · rank 251
Jalen Coker in the 253rd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
