The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Chargers watched Ryan Flournoy slide 50 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
Jackson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 5 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They jumped the gun on T'Vondre Sweat, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Khyree Jackson at pick No. 69 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They talked themselves into Ben Sinnott at the 105th pick, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Isaac Guerendo at Round 4, Pick 11 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A need, and now a little less of one.
Jarrian Jones in slot 140 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Delmar Glaze at the 181st overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A reach for Edefuan Ulofoshio in pick 225; a little patience would have been rewarded. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Somehow Ryan Flournoy was still sitting there in pick No. 253, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
