Whoever sat across the table from the Chargers should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. Julian Blackmon gives the group a proven body among the projects. However the rest shakes out, Hall Jr. at that price is a win they earned.
Trust the process, because this time the process plainly worked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 15 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a home-run threat at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Graham Barton in the 37th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Junior Colson in the 82nd overall pick. A minor itch, scratched.
A slide stopped in No. 105, with Michael Hall Jr. worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They let Tykee Smith come to them and pounced at slot 109. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Good price on Kamal Hadden in pick No. 139, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Isaiah Davis at the Round 6 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
