Thirty-one other rooms let Jake Slaughter slide, and the Chargers were the ones holding the card at No. 86. Highway robbery. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
A clean, defensible pick in No. 22 with a little surplus value in Avieon Terrell. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They let Anthony Hill Jr. come to them and pounced at the 55th overall pick. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Jake Slaughter at Round 3, Pick 22 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Steal is underselling it; Emmett Johnson at slot 123 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Josh Cameron in pick 204 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
