You could see the war room lean forward. Jha'Quan Jackson at the 225th overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Wilson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a mismatch in the passing game. A clean fit for the roster.
Troy Fautanu slid further than he should have, and slot 37 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. A need, and now a little less of one.
Xavier Worthy slipping to the 69th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board had Brenden Rice higher than pick No. 105, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A premium they did not need to pay, Johnny Wilson a notch or two before his time. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Taking Elijah Jones in pick 140 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Dwight McGlothern in No. 181 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Circle this one: Jha'Quan Jackson at Round 7, Pick 5 is a fall that decides a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They robbed the room for Caedan Wallace here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
