You build a draft on nights like this. Kris Abrams-Draine had no business being available in No. 142, and the Chargers did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 5 they get a matchup weapon at tight end. A clean fit for the roster.
No drama and no debate, Tyler Guyton went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 5. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Blake Corum. The roster fit checks out.
Leonard Taylor III at pick 105 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Kris Abrams-Draine in pick No. 142 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A slide stopped in the 183rd pick, with Zion Tupuola-Fetui worth more than the price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Fair-plus on Darius Muasau, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
