The Chargers torched the value chart for Cooper Beebe, taking him 37 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The Hadden pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 7th pick they get a true top target at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Chris Braswell in the 37th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Cooper Beebe at No. 38 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid a round early for Blake Corum in Round 3, Pick 5, more than the board wanted. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Tyler Davis in pick 106 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Dallin Holker this early at the Round 5 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Kamal Hadden at pick No. 183 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Michael Barrett in the 223rd overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
LaDarius Henderson slipping to the Round 7 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
