The Chargers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Austin Stogner, the No. 192 name on the board, in pick 226. Little to argue with here, and the A- says so.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The Chargers clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before. The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.
In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 30 they get a No. 1 receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
They paid sticker price for Tyler Guyton in pick No. 37, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They took Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at par in Round 2, Pick 30, which is nothing to complain about. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A straight-up fair deal on Trey Benson at pick 72, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A clean, defensible pick in slot 105 with a little surplus value in DeWayne Carter. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Christian Jones in the 183rd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Austin Stogner at the 226th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
