The Chargers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Marist Liufau fell into slot 124. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 5 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They robbed the room for Nate Wiggins here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A clean, defensible pick in pick 69 with a little surplus value in Javon Bullard. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Marist Liufau in pick No. 124, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A straight-up fair deal on Beaux Limmer at the 142nd pick, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
