Los Angeles Chargers

The steal of the weekend belongs to the Chargers and Bywater: B+.

The trade table was a mismatch, and the Chargers were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. The bottom line is a respectable B+.

That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

The Chargers clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.11 · Pick 11 · Rome Odunze · WR · rank 11
In No. 11 they get a true top target at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.5 · Pick 37 · Leonard Taylor III · DL · rank 35
No drama and no debate, Leonard Taylor III went about where he belonged in pick No. 37. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.24 · Pick 87 · TreVeyon Henderson · RB · rank 88
A straight-up fair deal on TreVeyon Henderson at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R4.34 · Pick 134 · Kris Abrams-Draine · CB · rank 119
A slide stopped in the 134th overall pick, with Kris Abrams-Draine worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.10 · Pick 146 · Jordan Travis · QB · rank 142
Jordan Travis at the 146th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R6.26 · Pick 201 · Ben Bywater · LB · rank 183
They will replay Ben Bywater at Round 6, Pick 26 for years; that is how good the value is. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R6.29 · Pick 204 · Bryson Nesbit · TE · rank 199
Fair-plus on Bryson Nesbit, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
