For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Chargers walked out of the weekend still thin at interior defensive lineman, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
Every board in the league had Kamara lower, and that gap is the story. On value alone, Trotter Jr. makes the weekend a net positive.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 5th pick they get a red-zone target to build around. A real need, handled.
Adonai Mitchell in the 37th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. slid further than he should have, and the Round 3 slot is lovely value for the linebacker. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They jumped the gun on Mohamed Kamara, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A conviction pick on Braelon Allen at pick 142 that the board grades a round light. It fills a real need, too.
A reach on Isaiah Williams in Round 6, Pick 8; the board had better options right there. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
By-the-book stuff, Phil Jurkovec at pick No. 226 squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
