Some picks age like wine; Mason McCormick at the 110th overall pick will need to, sitting 36 spots clear of his grade. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 5th pick they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They paid a round early for T'Vondre Sweat in No. 37, more than the board wanted. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They reached into another round for Trey Benson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A straight-up fair deal on Zak Zinter at Round 4, Pick 5, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Mason McCormick at pick 110 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
AJ Barner at slot 140 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A conviction pick on Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at slot 181 that the board grades a round light. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They talked themselves into Jalen Coker at pick No. 225, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They took Kimani Vidal at par in the Round 7 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
