Thirty-one other rooms let Ennis Rakestraw Jr. slide, and the Chargers were the ones holding the card at Round 3, Pick 5. Highway robbery. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

In slot 11 they get a go-to option on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
In No. 15 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at pick No. 69 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Kingsley Suamataia reach pick 78 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board fumbled Max Melton all the way to Round 3, Pick 27, and they scooped it up. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Steal is underselling it; MarShawn Lloyd at the Round 4 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
