You can draft well and still miss the point. The Chargers did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to edge rusher, which was the need that mattered most. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
On the needs board they went 2 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 5 they get a mismatch in the passing game. A clean fit for the roster.
Quinyon Mitchell at the 37th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in pick 69. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
