The Chargers' one glaring miss is edge rusher, a need they left exactly as they found it. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
Landing Mitchell that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. If Vidal pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
No edge and no loss on Brock Bowers in Round 1, Pick 5; it is a wash and a sensible one. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They robbed the room for Quinyon Mitchell here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Cooper Beebe at No. 69 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Cole Bishop in slot 106 is fair value, right on his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Ben Sinnott slipping to the 139th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at pick 183 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They paid a round early for Kimani Vidal in the 223rd pick, more than the board wanted. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A straight-up fair deal on Jalen Coker at slot 256, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
